Water Quality Downstream of the Meter.

Water in Australia may be of a quality where it safe to drink when it is delivered to your house, but what happens when it enters the domestic plumbing system.

Piping systems within our buildings are a labyrinth of many types of materials including copper brass and many plastics.

What chemical changes occur in the water supply when the water is heated and  is this hot water more corrosive towards our piping systems.

Plumbing materials have to be approved to be used in contact with drinking water.  The materials undergo AS4020 testing , but do these tests replicate some of the aggressive water supplies that the materials are likely to be exposed to around Australia.

When your child comes home school telling you the water tastes of metal at the drinking fountain,  sometimes there is a logical answer.

Water is regularly tested by the network providers outside the property  boundary,  water tests within the property boundary are rarely undertaken unless there has been a corrosion problem.

What is in our water and who is responsible for the water quality in your plumbing installation?
